Convincing Skill

Convincing skill

After our BD & CRM session, I was re collecting my experiences of convincing candidates & clients. It was a wonderful session because I learned convincing skill in a structured way. I felt you have done it in your regular course of action but when you understand it in systematic way it will let you know where you stand.

3 year back I met one candidate Mr. Rahul (Name changed) in our office. He happens to see PSCL board while passing through shivanand circle and walked into office. He was 52 year old and with traditional mind set. When I met him I was wondering and thinking how can I help him? He shared his experience of 27 Yrs and convinced me that he can still work. Our conversation was like this,

Me: Why do you need a job after 27 years of successful career?

Rahul: It was wonderful experience so far and I would like to continue my experience and knowledge to enhance my career. I don’t want to sit idle at this point of time but I am not so desperate

Me: How is your health condition?

Rahul: So far by Gods grace everything is fine. I don’t have any problems in terms of health

Me: What kind of role are you looking at?

Rahul: I am fine with role considering my experience will suit the role. I am not keen on designation they (client) can decide on that after meeting with me. You saw me and spent time with me and hope you are able to convince the clients. Age could be criteria but once they have meeting with me I think things can change.

After the conversation I felt he is very honest and open to discuss things. So I told him that I will share his profile and my experiences with clients to check out anything can be done. I didn’t have positions at that point of time but some where in my mind I gut feeling that I will able figure out something for him. I had very good relationship with one of Property Management Company. I shared his profile with HR mentioning all his details and convinced her to take it forward because she was reluctant on age factor. She has discussed with her management and able to set up one meeting for him.

I was very happy to share with candidate about client details and schedule interview. He met with MD of the company and they are able to create one position for him. It was one of the best moments for me because he has given role of Senior Vice President. It gave me certain level of confidence and feeling that we can create positive impact on clients. He joined company after 3 months of notice Period because he was working with PSU as GM (He had 20 years of stay in the same company).

He was very happy and came to me again to thank me on this complete process. It was one of the great experiences for me. After Rahul’s hiring HR was looking at people in age of 45 – 55 for all their senior level and key positions. So overall it was great experience.

I will continue to add more value to our clients to explore more opportunities and create more success.
